Okay, so there's always a first and this is my first blog! :D hopefully i can be diligent and keep writing. Its more of a memory log i guess. :)
So i'm in MUMBAI! I flew in on the 31st, the last day of 2012 and spent my new year at the airport waiting for my baggage with random people. I welcomed the new year wishing random people who unlike me were waiting to get their luggage and rush back home to their loved ones. Me, on the other hand I wished I had been in Singapore with the new found relations or back at home in Sri Lanka with mom and dad. But oh well, this was fun too! A new way to welcome the new year! :D

Finally after 30 minutes of waiting for the baggage, i met the awesome driver who took me to the campus hostel. The first person i could speak hindi to face-to-face and i must say i can speak pretty well! :P I was shagged and all i wanted was a hot shower and a comfy bed and doze off for eternity! I arrived at the hostel and was asked a thousand and one questions by the security guard before she directed me to the room. And when i finally entered the hostel it was way better than i had imagined! In fact, much cleaner than PGP in recent days. Even the washrooms were sparkly clean! Yayy!! :D
And of course the room! It isn't huge but definitely bigger and spacious than the PGP rooms. I came and found the room empty with one side of the room occupied. So I took over the other side, and unpacked. I'm yet to decorate my side of the room with all the pictures. :D
It was 6am and there was a knock at the door that's when it sunk in - I have a roommate! :D A new roommate! A really sweet and friendly french girl! After having been with my forever roomie -Yamuna, i can't imagine having a new roommate! I hope she can cope with my craziness! Haha! ;)
So i slept like a log and woke up at 10am. I was tired! Aurelie and i were just heading out for lunch when we ran into Neha - aurelie's buddy and a very sweet and bubbly girl. So three of us and one of neha's friends headed out for lunch at GULMOHAR cafeteria instead of the mess. The food was decent and pretty cheap - I had Naan and butter panneer and dhaal and masala papad for just SGD 2!! CHEAP! I know! haha!
And then we headed to explore the campus. Thanks to khannu for suggesting we go to the lakeside! That place is just gorgeous! Really calm and serene! A walk by the lakeside, a visit to the boat house and then we were off to explore the boys hostels at the far end! The boys hostels are wayyyyy better than ours! They have this all cool sky bridge that houses a hugeeee TV lounge, another small tv room, pool tables, TT tables, chess tables, a gym, a boxing and darts room, a mini library and a computer room! The grafitti there was uber cool! It was so cool that i was so engrossed in admiring them i forgot to take a picture! :( next time!!

The view from the terrace of the boys hostel is just beyond amazing! Its the perfect spot to watch the sunset with your loved ones! Totally breathtaking! And yes i did manage to take pictures of the view. :D After all these awesome views we got into the campus "buses" which are just a wee bit bigger than the normal vans and headed to the faculty buildings! So we went around halfway across the campus today - an accomplishment! :P haha!
All in all - first impression of the campus was good! This place is damn huge and I love the lakeside! Its just so very soothing! And of course the worst part is we don't have HOT water!!! In a way its good, this way i will stay awake during morning lectures! haha! And more importantly there's no wifi!
End of day one, and i have roamed half the campus, met a few ppl and made friends, got a really sweet roommate and have no other way of communicating to the outside world than through facebook and with this chirpy unstable internet connection that too is unstable! Anyways, i'm glad i came! Looking forward to tomorrow! :D
